Dr. Petko Stefanovski has been appointed Deputy Minister of Health, the Government Information Service said on Tuesday. He takes the place of Boyko Penkov, dismissed by the Prime Minister on September 12 for his slow pace of work, which put at risk the implementation of important measures in the field of health care set out in the governance programme.
Dr. Stefanovski is a graduate of the Medical University of Pleven. He specialised in Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Public Health and Health Management. He obtained a PhD degree in Medicine with a scientific specialty in Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care. Since 2014, he has been part of the teaching staff of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care at the Medical University - Pleven. Dr. Stefanovski was a long-time head of the Emergency Department at the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment "Dr. Georgi Stranski" in Pleven.
Dr. Petko Stefanovski has numerous awards from national and international scientific conferences. He is the author of a large number of scientific publications and monographs.
