Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova Friday met with a Georgian parliamentary delegation led by Maka Botchorishvili, head of the parliamentary Committee on European Integration. The sides discussed options for deepening the bilateral cooperation in the implementation of projects of mutual interest, including such related to energy and transport connectivity, high-tech and innovation, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The sides expressed mutual satisfaction with the bilateral dialogue which has been developing actively this year.

Shekerletova congratulated Georgia on the European Commission's assessment of the country's progress towards EU accession. "We encourage you to continue on the path of reforms. Georgia is an important partner of Bulgaria in the region of South Caucasus and the wider Black Sea region, particularly in the context of a drastically changed geopolitical environment. As a member of the EU and NATO, Bulgaria values Georgia's geopolitical choice and will continue to consistently support the country's European and Euro-Atlantic perspective," the Deputy Foreign Minister said.

Botchorishvili put an emphasis on the high assessment of Bulgaria's consistent support for the European future of Georgia. She expressed gratitude for the clearly stated support in the declaration that the National Assembly adopted on October 13, 2023.
