site.btaSofia District Prosecutor's Office Detains Russian Citizen Who Illegally Helped Foreigners to Cross into Bulgaria

The Sofia District Prosecutor's Office brought to criminal responsibility a Russian citizen who illegally helped foreigners to cross into the country, the prosecution service said on Friday.

On October 24, on the Hemus motorway, the accused V.I. illegally assisted five Syrian citizens to cross into the country in violation of the law by providing them with transportation in a car.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case for a criminal offence under Art. 1 of the Criminal Code, which is punishable by imprisonment. V.I. was detained for a period of up to 72 hours by order of the supervising prosecutor.
