site.btaHristo Ivanov of CC-DB: Legislation for Judicial Reform May Be Completed within Eight Months

Legislation for the judicial reform may be completed within eight months, Hristo Ivanov of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria told journalists in Varna on Saturday. 

He said that there is a majority in Parliament which can amend the Constitution. According to him, afterwards the Judicial System Act and the Code of Criminal Procedure should be amended too. This will take time but everything moves according to the normal political schedule, work should be completed within six to eight months, said Ivanov. He added that within the same period there may be a new prosecutor general as the procedure will take place under a reformed Supreme Judicial Council. 

Ivanov said that the local elections have injected extra adrenaline in all political players but afterwards things will come back to normal. Many people are tempted to rock the boat, but I should warn that it may overturn and we will all end on the bottom,” said Ivanov. He underscored that from this point of view the government is without alternative and will be stable.
