Bulgaria's Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov, and Land Forces Commander, Major General Deyan Deshkov, Thursday observed experimental firing with a Strela-3 man-portable air defence missile system at the Shabla air defence firing range, the Defence Ministry reported. The system had to be tested as it will be put into operation in the Land Forces' air defence formations.

The experimental firing showed that the system is reliable and its use will enhance the air-defence formations' capabilities.

The participating service persons from 2nd Mechanised Brigade - Stara Zagora demonstrated good preparation and excellent aim.

Among the observers were the 2nd Mechanised Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Stanimir Hristov, the head of the Strategic Planning Directorate, Brigadier General Zdravko Pehlivanov, and representatives of the VMZ-Sopot ordnance plant.
