Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mariya Gabriel and the Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria Hiroshi Narahira discussed the cooperation between Bulgaria and Japan in response to global challenges, Gabriel wrote in her Facebook page on Tuesday. The agenda included the two countries' partnership in areas of mutual interest such as digital technologies, innovation, education and environmental protection.

Gabriel expressed gratitude to Hiroshi Narahira for his active and consistent work to deepen bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Japan. She added: "In 2024, we mark three important anniversaries: 115 years since the first official contacts between Bulgaria and Japan, 85 years since the establishment and 65 years since the restoration of our diplomatic relations".
