Average temperatures in Bulgaria in September are expected to be higher than their usual values for this month, which is 17 to 20C in most parts of the country and 3 to 10C in the mountains. The lowest temperatures will range between 7 and 12C, and the highest will range between 30 and 35C.

The monthly amount of rainfall will be normal - between 40 and 60 litres per sq m in the plains, between 60 and 80 litres per sq m in the mountains.

September 1-10: Mostly sunny. Cumulus and cumulonimbus clouds in some areas, mostly in the mountains, with brief isolated thunderous showers.

September 11-20: More showers and lower temperatures. Mostly sunny in the second half of the period. Overcast with showers and lower temperatures towards the end of the period.

September 21-30: Likely showers in the first half of the period. Mostly sunny and dry, higher temperatures in the second half.

September equinox occurs on September 23, which marks the end of the astronomical summer.
