Operation Narsil busted a network of websites containing child abuse material designed to generate advertising profits, said the Interior Ministry.

A 34-year-old man was arrested in Bulgaria in a global operation led by Interpol, and an online forum he managed, which facilitated access to thousands of files depicting severe child sexual abuse, was shut down.

The operation lasted two years, and its aim was to bring to justice criminals who run networks of websites with child pornographic material.
In the course of joint operations, member countries worked with Interpol's Worst of List (IWOL) database and shared intelligence in order to to locate suspects and coordinate arrests.

Bulgarian law enforcement authorities, together with the prosecution, identified and detained a 34-year-old man who had been running an online forum since 2020. Police shut down the forum, which is believed to have facilitated access to thousands of files depicting severe child pornography. Efforts to identify users of the forum are ongoing.

Narsil is one of Interpol's first operations focused on identifying, locating and detaining people receiving advertising revenue from website visitors interested in viewing child sexual abuse content, the Interior Ministry said.
