Seven New Deputy Ministers Appointed

Seven new deputy ministers have been appointed at six ministries, the Government Information Service reported on Friday evening:

Ministry of Tourism

Irena Georgieva: Board member (since 2006) and President of the Association of the Bulgarian Tour operators and Travel Agents (ABTTA) (2009-2013). Member, Director and Deputy Director, and President (2010-2012) of the European Travel Agents' and Tour Operators' Associations. Deputy Minister of Tourism (February 2015 - May 2021 and September 2021 - June 2023).

Ministry of Environment and Water

Petar Dimitrov: Holds a Master's degree in hydraulic engineering. Director of the Danube Region River Basin Directorate. Deputy Minister of Environment and Water (May 2021 - February 2022 and August - June 2023).

Ministry of Economy and Industry

Irina Shtonova: holds MBA from Stanford and PhD from Sofia University. Customer Service Manager at Los Angeles-based DirecTV satellite television (2017). Vice President for Marketing and Strategies of AT&T (2015-2021). Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry (August 2022 - June 2023).
  
Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works

Ivaylo Staykov: holds a Master's degree in buildings and facilities construction from Sofia's University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy. Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Public Works (June - August 2022).

Ministry of Health

Prof. Ilko Getov: holds a Master's degree in pharmacology, a Doctor's degree in clinical pharmacy and a Master's degree in health management from the Sofia Medical University. Chair of the Governing Board of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union (June 2013 - February 2020). Chair of the National Council on Prices and Reimbursement of Medicinal Products (June 2022  - October 2022).

Ministry of Culture

Chavdar Georgiev: graduated from Sofia's University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and did post-graduate work at the Technological Institute in Athens.

Viktor Stoyanov: Director of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra (2014-2016). Member of the Supervisory Board of the MUSICAUTOR Collective Rights Management Society (2018-2023). Deputy Minister of Culture (2014). International award winning pianist.
