More than 2 million tourists chose Romania's Black Sea coast for their holiday this summer, Romania's TVR national TV channel said in a coverage on the topic. That is an increase by 20% from summer 2023.

The holidayers spent EUR 500 million on accommodation. That sums exceeds EUR 1 billion if the food, transport, and entertainment costs are added. The most popular option was three nights at a hotel with at least three stars, and the average sum spent was RON 1,350 (around BGN 500).

Corina Martin, manager of a tourist agency, commented that this year, the flight tickets were more expensive, which made many Romanians choose to spend their holiday in their home country. Some are still taking advantage of the good weather in late September and the sea water temperature of 22C.

A survey by the Join UP tour operator, cited by local media, shows that 45% of tourists in Romania travelled with children. Six out of ten Romanian tourists stayed at five-star hotels this summer, and 80% chose the all-inclusive or ultra all-inclusive option.
