Sofia, November 20 (BTA) - By mid-November there were 26 confirmed outbreaks of avian influenza across five regions in Bulgaria: Dobrich, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Stara Zagora and Yambol, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency said in a press release Tuesday. Additional measures are being implemented to contain and eliminate the spread of the disease.

The disease has affected more than 1 million poultry. Fourteen of the outbreaks are in duck farms, six in hen farms, five in private back yards, and one in a game farm.
