The Commission for Protection of Competition has initiated proceedings against the Sofia Regional Administration regarding the Monument to the Soviet Army, the commission said on its website on Wednesday.

The complaint, filed by Pro Facility Management EOOD, is directed against the decision of Sofia's Regional Governor to implement a 24-hour armed physical security of properties in the village of Lozen, where bronze figures and bas-reliefs parts of the Monument to the Soviet Army are housed.

The dismantling of the monument began on December 12, 2023. Sofia Regional Governor Vyara Todeva explained at the time that the bronze sculptures which were removed would be inventoried and transported to a place for safekeeping. The plan was to put the sculptures on display at the Museum of Socialist Art after they were restored.
