Attending a formal event marking the 113th anniversary and Patron’s Day of the Rakovski National Defence College on Monday, Bulgaria’s Deputy Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Mihail Popov, said that a next phase in the modernization of the Bulgarian Armed Forces is beginning. He also stressed the need for leaders and commanders who will introduce an innovative approach.
“We are entering a new phase of modernization of the Armed Forces - a long-awaited stage that has required major effort at all levels,” Lieutenant General Popov said.
“In addition to the new equipment and weaponry that are already being introduced, there is a need for leaders and commanders with an innovative approach,“ Lieutenant General Popov said. “Commanders with the qualities and motivation to help prevent, deter and respond to threats to national security,” he added.
