Protesters gathered in the centre of Sofia, between the President's administration building and the building of the Council of Ministers, declaring against the “war” on the road. The protest is under the slogan “Enough death on the road”. There is an increased police presence in the area. Those gathered are demanding legislative changes ensuring road safety.

Protests under the same slogan were held also in Plovdiv, Varna, Yambol, Razgrad, Troyan, Ruse, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Veliko Tarnovo and Samokov.

In Telish village near Pleven, people came out in a peaceful civil protest demanding decisive measures against the "war" on roads and for more safe roads. On March 31, a child lost its life in a crash at the national road I-3 in the section between the villages of Telish and Radomirtsi.

"We have two very clear appeals, one is to the citizens - to realize that we ourselves are half of the problem with our non-compliance with the laws, and the second is to the Government, which must deal with the problems of road traumatism," said in Sofia Julieta Mihaylova from the Initiative Committee Together Against Madness on the Road Initiative Committee.

She added that a concept that delivers results is needed urgently. "The problem affects at least five ministries and we cannot talk about one specific cause," Mihaylova said, explaining that the Initiative will continue to demand more legislative changes.
