A discussion dedicated to the fight against gambling and other addictions took place here on Friday under the auspices of Deputy Prime Minister and Chair of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Atanas Zafirov. Zafirov opened the forum saying that gambling is no longer just in gaming halls but also on social networks and added that the system aims to convert young people into addicts.
The Deputy Prime Minister stated: “The state has no right to stand by idly. We are determined to intervene against illegal gambling. This can be achieved with effective control and by providing assistance to those affected. We need to build a system that acts preventively and detects the risk early.”
Zafirov said that an environment should be built where people are not afraid to seek support. He added that problems such as gambling destroy families, impact entire communities, and create risks for society.
