site.btaRepresentatives of Black Sea Region Diplomatic Institutes Meet in Bucharest


A meeting of diplomatic institutes and academies of the countries of the wider Black Sea region was held in Bucharest on April 8-11. Bulgaria was represented by Tanya Mihaylova, Director of the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Institute announced on Friday. The event was organized by the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, the Diplomatic Academy of Ukraine and the Estonian School of Diplomacy and was attended by representatives of Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia and Armenia.
The meeting focused on contemporary trends in public diplomacy and the way it can support regional security and the European integration of the countries of the Black Sea region. The role of digital technologies, social media and artificial intelligence in the public presentation of foreign policy, as well as strategic communications and countering disinformation in the context of ongoing hybrid threats in Eastern Europe, were discussed.
The Director of the Diplomatic Institute presented the Institute's activities in recent years in the field of building the administrative capacity of the Bulgarian diplomatic service and State administration in the field of digital diplomacy, strategic communication and combating disinformation, including two specialized practical manuals on digital diplomacy and countering disinformation in Bulgaria worked out by the Institute in early 2025.
Within the framework of the forum, Mihaylova also held bilateral meetings with the directors of the diplomatic training institutions of Romania, Moldova, Croatia, Ukraine and Georgia, the Institute’s press release reads.
