Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev received Italian Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra on the occasion of the end of her Bulgarian tenure, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Thursday, the press center of the ministry announced. The Minister expressed his appreciation of Ambassador Zarra’s work in the development and strengthening of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Italy.

During the talks, the excellent interaction between the two countries in all areas of mutual interest was confirmed. The partnership in the field of security and defense is highly valued, it has been really successful. The role of Italy as a Framework State in the NATO Multinational Battlegroup located in Novo Selo was highlighted.

Minister Georgiev voiced appreciation for Ambassador Zarra's efforts in, and commitment to, the development of trade and economic relations with Italy, which is one of the leading trade partners of Bulgaria and a key investor in its economy, the Ministry said.

Ambassador Zarra thanked the Foreign Ministry for the cooperation during her tenure and expressed confidence that Bulgaria and Italy will continue to build on the excellent bilateral partnership and friendship they share.
