site.btaSupreme Judicial Council Elects New Head of Military District Prosecutor's Office in Sofia

The Prosecutors College of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) unanimously elected prosecutor Petar Dilov to head the Military District Prosecutor's Office in Sofia, the SJC said on its website on Wednesday. The decision can be appealed before the Supreme Administrative Court within seven days.

In his bid for the position, Dimov underscored his professional experience as well as the support and trust of his colleagues.

Dimov has over 20 years of legal experience, of which over 19 years in the Military District Prosecutor's Office in Sofia. He began his professional career in 2005 as a military investigator, transferring in 2017 to the position of prosecutor. In 2018 he was appointed Deputy Military District Prosecutor of the Military District Prosecutor's Office in Sofia.

In March 2024, Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov proposed to dismiss the Head of the Military District Prosecutor's Office in Sofia, Adalbert Krastev.
