site.btaBSP - United Left Floor Leader: Surcharges Should Be Regulated to Prevent Market Distortion

BSP-United Left parliamentary group Floor Leader Dragomir Stoynev said on Tuesday that it is important to regulate surcharges on food in order to prevent market distortion. Stoynev was attending a public discussion on food affordability, organized by the For Affordable and Quality Food Association here on Tuesday at BTA’s National Press Club.
"When there is a lack of information why some products have a high price, this is already a problem - of the institutions, of the regulators, of the Bulgarian consumer himself. That is why with the bill submitted by BSP - United Left we will seek greater transparency," Stoynev noted.
He made use of the rostrum to invite representatives of the big retail chains to talks in parliament.
"On Friday we will organize a round table in the Bulgarian Parliament. All political forces that recognize this injustice are invited and our desire is to be united in the Bulgarian Parliament because each country, although a member of the EU, protects its own producers," Stoynev said.
He advocated measures that do not lead to distortion, but give support to Bulgarian producers. According to him, the solution should also be sought in partnership with large retail chains.
The event was opened by Parliament Chair Nataliya Kiselova.
