site.btaWholesale Prices of Almost All Basic Food Producs, Fruit, Veg Up in Past Week

The wholesale price of almost all basic food products, vegetables and fruit went up in the past week, according to data from the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets released on Sunday. The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria went up by 0.45% to 2.214 points. Last week, the index stood at 2.204 points.

The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.

The price of greenhouse cucumbers went up by 2.6% to BGN 2.6% per kilogram and that of cabbage, by 0.6% to BGN BGN 1.35 per kg. Onions appreciated by 4% to BGN 1.15/kg, lettuce by 0.3% to BGN 1.15 per piece, and garlic by 1.7% to 5.76/kg. Greenhouse tomatoes depreciated by 3.8% to BGN 3.59/kg, potatoes by 0.3% to BGN 1.22/kg, and carrots by 2% to BGN 1.15/kg.

Oranges and mandarines are the only fruit that depreciated in the past week, by 3.3% to BGN 1.95 per kilogram and by 5.9% to BGN 2.20/kg, respectively. Bananas appreciated by 1.2% to BGN 2.69/kg, lemons by 1.5% to BGN 2.29/kg, grapefruit by 3.5% to BGN 2.40/kg, and apples by 3.4% to BGN 1.69/kg.

The price of white brined cheese from cow's milk increased by 1.3% to BGN 11.58/kg and of yellow kashkaval cheese of the Vitosha type, by 0.1% to BGN 17.39/kg. Butter from cow's milk appreciated by 2.1% to BGN 3.07 per 125 grammes. Yoghurt (with a fat content of 3% and over) depreciated by 0.8% to BGN 1.30 for 400 grammes and so did fresh milk (with a fat content of 3%), by 1.2% to BGN 2.38 per litre. 

The wholesale price of poulty went up by 1.4% to BGN 6.38/kg and of eggs (size M), by 0.6% to BGN 0.35 per piece.

Rice depreciated by 4.6% to BGN 3.26/kg and flour (type 500), by 5.6% to BGN 1.40/kg. Lentils appreciated by 1.7% and traded at BGN 4.34/kg

The price of cooking oil went down by 0.8% to BGN 3.20/litre. Sugar depreciated by 2%, selling at BGN 1.92/kg.
