The Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Maestro José Soares, performed a concert in Rio de Janeiro dedicated to Bulgaria and its orchestral tradition. The event took place on December 6, 2024, at the Cecília Meireles concert hall.

Organized by the Embassy of Bulgaria in Brasília and the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra, the concert marked the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Brazil.

The programme featured Northeastern Pieces by Clóvis Pereira, Cello Concerto by Vesselin Stoyanov, Dances from Thrace by Petko Staynov, and Vardar Rhapsody by Pancho Wladigeroff.

Cellist Stanimir Todorov, who lives in Buenos Aires but performs worldwide, was the guest soloist. He added an encore, playing a piece by Bulgarian composer Petar Hristoskov.

Guests included representatives of the Bulgarian Embassy, Hudson Lima (National Art Foundation opera and classical music coordinator), members of the Bulgarian community from Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, and São Paulo, and Brazilian symphony music enthusiasts.

The Bulgarian Embassy in Brasília organized a series of cultural events throughout 2024 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Bulgaria and Brazil.
