Police officers found 26 migrants travelling in a truck in Varshets Municipality, said the Regional Directorate of the Interior in Montana on Friday.

A joint team of border guards and police officers checked a truck with Sofia number plates on Thursday. During the inspection, 26 people illegally residing in Bulgaria were found in the cargo compartment. Most of them were men aged between 20 and 25 from Libya, Afghanistan and Syria. A woman and two children were also found. The driver ran into the nearby woods.

The foreigners were handed over to officers from the Chiprovtsi Border Police Station. The Border Police is working on the case.
