Borislav Gutsanov of BSP-United Left said at a press conference at the BSP headquarters on Tuesday that they are initiating a petition to the Constitutional Court to declare the early parliamentary elections on October 27 illegal and to have them annulled. In his words, the elections cannot be held under this caretaker government.

“Along with this petition, we also want to collect signatures for the Constitutional Court to return the rights of the President, as adopted by the Grand National Assembly 33 years ago,” Gutsanov said, adding that having a short list of candidates for caretaker prime minister can only produce the same results.

“As long as the elections are not annulled, any political entity that has passed the 4% threshold has grounds for full participation in the work of Parliament,” said Atanas Zafirov, chairman of the BSP-United Left.

In addition to the support of the annulment of the elections, BSP-United Left has reasons to demand substantial changes in the current electoral legislation, Valeri Zhablyanov said.
