Vice President Iliana Iotova met with Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and the two discussed the cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas, including energy diversification and the defence industry, said the press office of the head of State on Tuesday.
Iotova was visiting the American city on the occasion of the the exhibition Ancient Thrace and the Classical World: Treasures from Bulgaria, Romania, and Greece, the third part of the "Classical World in Context" Program of the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
The Vice President presented the Los Angeles Mayor with a replica from the Panagyurishte Gold Treasure. Iotova invited Bass to visit the exhibition.
The Bulgarian segment of Ancient Thrace and the Classical World features over 150 exhibits from 14 museums, accounting for more than 90% of all items displayed.
During the meeting, Iotova and Bass discussed topics of a bilateral nature, with the Vice President indicating that she expects the upcoming third session of the Bulgaria-USA Strategic Dialogue in 2025, which should be held in Bulgaria, to stimulate the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Topics from the international agenda were also discussed, including migration waves caused by climate change and military conflicts, the regression in the protection of human rights globally.
