site.btaFrench Institute Hosts Conference on Scientific Challenges in Antarctica
A conference titled "Scientific Challenges in Antarctica. The Experience of Bulgarian and French Polar Expeditions" was held at the French Institute in Sofia, the Bulgarian Antarctic Institute (BAI) reported on Thursday. French Ambassador to Bulgaria Joel Meyer was a guest at the event.
The conference was organized by the French Embassy and the French Institute in partnership with the French Polar Institute Paul-Emile Victor (IPEV), the BAI, the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia and Bulgarian National Television.
BAI Director Christo Pimpirev, IPEV Director Yan Ropert-Coudert and other speakers presented their work in Antarctica. They discussed current issues and the prospects of Antarctic research, and took many questions from the audience. In the meantime, photos of the icy continent by Oleg Vasilev were shown on a screen.
