The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run passed through Pavel Banya on Tuesday, with the runners being welcomed with bread and salt by deputy mayors Milena Kavrakova and Radka Ivanova. The participants handed Ivanova the Peace Torch, symbolizing people's aspiration for understanding and harmony. Afterwards, a tree of peace was planted in the city park.

"I thank you that Pavel Banya is part of the most large-scale and long-lasting mass event dedicated to peace. May the aspiration of all of us towards a more peaceful and good world be crowned with success, despite the vicissitudes of time", said Ivanova. She cited the words of Aristotle, saying that it is not important to win the war, but to create peace.

On Monday, the runners were welcomed in Kazanlak in front of the Rose Museum by Mayor Galina Stoyanova and ultramarathoner Radi Milev. Stoyanova wished the participants to meet very happy people on their way who understand that peace is the greatest value.

The runners, who entered Bulgaria on September 29 through the Ruse border crossing, will continue through Macedonia and Serbia to the relay's final in Hungary.

The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run unites people of all cultures and nationalities in the pursuit of universal understanding and peace. Since its founding in 1987, the Run has visited almost every country on earth. In 2024, the initiative started in the Vatican with Pope Francis lighting the Peace Torch, which is carried for six months by an international team of runners through 27 European countries.
