Since the beginning of the year, Bulgaria saw the highest increase in new car registrations among all EU member states, year-on-year, show figures of the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) published on Thursday.
Between January 2024 and July 2024, there were a total of 26,945 new car registrations in Bulgaria, which was an increase by 28.4%, compared to the same period of the previous year.
In July 2024, a total of 3,906 new cars have been registered in Bulgaria, marking an increase of 16%, year-on-year. In terms of market growth, Bulgaria ranks fourth after Malta (29.4%), Slovenia (19.9%) and Poland (18.6%).
In July 2024, a total of 852,051 new cars have been registered in the EU, representing a marginal increase of 0.2%, year-on-year. Leading markets such as France and Germany saw declines of 2.3% and 2.1% respectively, while new car registrations in Italy and Spain grew by 4.7% and 3.4% respectively. In July 2024, battery-powered electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 12.1% of the EU market.
