site.bta296 Kg of Cannabis Found in Cropfields in Southwestern Bulgaria

Bulgarian law enforcers found 148 cannabis plants with a total weight of 296 kg in the area of Petrich and Strumyani as part of a counter-narcotics operation carried out on Monday, the Regional Directorate of the Interior Ministry in Blagoevgrad said.

The police found some 60 plants with a total weight of 83.8 kg in a cropfield in the village of Nikudin, Strumyani municipality. Some 30 plants with an overall weight of 15 kg were discovered in the area of the village of Gega, Petrich municipality. About 58 plants totalling 197.2 kg were uncovered in the vicinity of the village of Bogoroditsa in Petrich municipality.

Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated, and an investigation is underway, the police said.
