The fire in the Slavyanka mountain range on the Bulgarian-Greek border remains active, Blagoevgrad Regional Administration said on Monday. The nearby village of Goleshevo is not currently at risk. As a preventive measure, a 50-tonne bulldozer is being used to clear an additional clearing near the village.

New fire outbreaks from Greece are complicating the efforts to contain the fire in the west. Efforts by firefighters, the Southwestern State Enterprise, the Regional Forestry Directorate, military personnel, and volunteers will continue on Tuesday. Two aircraft from Spain, already stationed in Bulgaria, will also join the efforts on Tuesday, Blagoevgrad Regional Administration said.
