site.btaSozopol to Offer Tourist Trips to St Ivan Island

Ships and boats will offer tourist trips from the Port of Sozopol to the St John the Baptist Monastery on St Ivan Island, the municipality said on its Facebook page on Friday. Trips to the monastery will be also available by kayak from the beach of the old town in Sozopol.

The medieval St John the Baptist Monastery is located in the southern part of the island, in the waters of Sozopol Bay. The first archaeological researches were conducted in the 1985-1994 period, with the earliest archaeological artifacts discovered during the excavation of the monastery dating from the 5th century BC.
