site.btaTopolovgrad Municipality Hosts Children from Bolhrad within "Fun Summer in Bulgaria" Initiative

Bulgaria's southeastern Municipality of Topolovgrad hosted children from Bolhrad Municipality in Ukraine's Odessa region for the second year in a row. The visit was organized within the initiative Fun Summer in Bulgaria, run by the Executive Agency for Bulgarians Abroad.

Topolovgrad Municipality and St. St. Cyril and Methodius-1894 Community Centre welcomed ten children between 10 and 12 years of age who were hosted by Bulgarian families.

Zhanna Suslina, Head of the Department of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Bolgrad Municipality, told BTA that Bolhrad children were placed with families in Topolovgrad, where they were welcomed very warmly for a whole week. “Very interesting excursions were organized for our children, they got acquainted with fragments of the history and culture of Bulgaria", Suslina added.

On behalf of the Bolhrad Municipality and children’s parents, Suslina thanked the initiators and organizers of this project, which gave the Bolgrad children the opportunity to see Bulgaria and be cherished guests, especially in this difficult time for Ukraine.

“The cooperation between Topolovgrad and Bolhrad Municipalities in the framework of the cultural initiative is of big importance which, we hope, will continue in the future”, Suslina added.
