A code yellow alert for dangerously hot weather has been issued across 21 regions for Monday, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) said.
The warning is in force for the regions of Blagoevgrad, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Vratsa, Gabrovo, Kardzhali, Kyustendil, Lovech, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv, Razgrad, Ruse, Sliven, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Targovishte, Haskovo, Shumen, Yambol. Highs: 33C to 38C, around 33C in Sofia.
According to the weather forecast, on Monday it will be sunny, but cumulous clouds will start forming in the afternoon in North Bulgaria, which will spread to the north-central and eastern parts of the country by the evening, bringing possible hail with thunder and showers.
The Black Sea coast: Mostly sunny. Partial cloud over the north after noon, isolated showers with thunder in the evening. Possible hail. Light to moderate northeasterly wind. Highs: 29C to 34C. Seawater: 28C.
The mountains: Mostly sunny. Cumulus cloud, isolated showers with thunder after noon over the Balkan. Moderate northwesterly wind. Highs: 28C at 1,200 m, 21C at 2,000 m.
