With 16 votes in favour and 2 abstentions, the parliamentary Energy Committee Thursday approved a draft resolution tasking the Council of Ministers with the adoption of a programme on compensating business clients for the high prices at the electricity exchange. The MPs on the Committee combined in one draft the proposals tabled by Vazrazhdane and GERB-UDF on the issue.
Vazrazhdane's draft resolution envisaged the renewal of compensations as of July 1 until the end of 2024 at a price ceiling of 180 BGN/MWh. GERB-UDF's draft document envisaged the same price ceiling but no compensation for companies with an average monthly price below BGN 180.
The Energy Committee will hold an extraordinary sitting on Friday morning.
