site.btaTwo Detained with 30 kg of Marijuana at Parking Lot in Sofia

Two persons were detained with 30 kg of marijuana at a parking lot in Sofia on Thursday, the Interior Ministry said in a press release on Friday. They are to remain in custody for 72 hours.

The two were arrested within a specialized police operation by officers of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime. They were caught exchanging drugs at a parking lot. One of the detained had 28 vacuumed packages in his car containing 30 kg of what field tests showed was marijuana.

Searches of the other car and the two detainees' homes found BGN 11,600 (around EUR 6,000). A passenger car and four mobile phones were seized.

Pretrial proceedings have been initiated. The two are charged with the possession of drugs, facing imprisonment and a fine under the Penal Code.
