The Varna Breeze by Exit Music Festival will be held for the first time in this Black Sea city between August 14 and 18, Varna Mayor Blagomir Kotsev and festival organizer Borislav Milanov told a news conference on Friday.

"Our idea is for Breeze to become the biggest international festival in Bulgaria", Milanov said. The event takes place in partnership with the Exit festival, which attracts  hundreds of thousands of people to 40 stages near Novi Sad in Serbia every year.

The festival programme will feature Dire Straits legacy with the original line-up from 1995, Stereo MC's, Gipsy Kings, Chambao, DJ Mark Knight and many more. There will also be Metallica, Queen, and Red Hot Chili Peppers tributes. Admission to all concerts on the Day of Varna, August 15, will be free.

The goal is to make the Breeze festival an annual event in Varna, said Kotsev, adding that the partners from Serbia chose Varna because of its proximity to Romania, from where the largest group of festival goers is expected.
