The collective bodies of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) will hold a sitting, possibly with the participation of Honorary Chairman Ahmed Dogan, so the corresponding decisions will be taken, MRF Co-Chair Dzhevdet Chakarov told reporters on Thursday morning. He was commenting on Wednesday's call by Dogan for the resignations of MRF Chairman Delyan Peevski, Deputy Chairmen Halil Letifov and Stanislav Anastassov, Deputy floor leaders Hamid Hamid and Erten Anisova, and MRF Central Operational Bureau member Radoslav Revanski.
The collective bodies will hold a sitting as early as in the coming days, Chakarov commented further.
"A lot of people took to calling as early as yesterday [Wednesday], sharing the call of our Honorary Chairman. What he shares - that there is no normal functioning based on democratic principles in the MRF - is expressed at length in his address. What he is calling for is to let go of fear," said Chakarov, adding that most of the structures in the country stand by Dogan's call. Chakarov commented that there have been other such instances in political history, and the MRF has resisting forces.
Ramadan Atalay, who was expelled from the MRF parliamentary group on July 3, commented that Wednesday's situation shows the crisis that has emerged in the MRF is now beginning to be resolved. "I believe that soon the collective bodies that we keep talking about will come together, and everyone will have their say and a decision will be taken. If the Central Council decides that Peevski is wrong, even if he continues to persist, things will be resolved, Atalay said. He believes that Peevski can remain a member of the MRF.
