It is unlikely that we will see another extension of the programme for industrial parks in Bulgaria under the National Recovery and Resilience Mechanism. The implementation of investments under it should take place no later than June 30, 2026, and in case of further delays Bulgaria will likely see serious financial adjustments, according to Innovation Minister Rosen Karadimov. Karadimov visited the Industrial and Logistic Park - Burgas on Thursday to inspect its expansion, which is one of 11 approved for funding under the programme so far.
Minister Karadimov added that the estimates of his ministry show that Bulgaria needs about 35 industrial parks.
"Bulgaria's reindustrialization is a key element of the country's recovery. He added that the ministry has several tools at its disposal to support the re-industrialization processes.
"Ten days ago the Council of Ministers adopted the new strategy of the Bulgarian Development Bank. In the strategy, which was prepared at the level of an interdepartmental committee of seven ministries, all employers' organizations, the two nationally representative trade unions and the Association of municipalities, the participation of the Bulgarian Development Bank in the reindustrialization of the country was highlighted as a priority. Another instrument within the Innovation Ministry is the Bulgarian Investment Agency, which issues priority certificates to investors who meet certain conditions. The Fund of Funds also provides support opportunities. It is about to open the Fund for Sustainable Urban Development, which also has grant schemes for the construction of industrial parks," Minister Karadimov added.
He defined the development of industrial parks in the country as a powerful economic engine and an attractive place for investments, which Bulgaria needs. "It is through industrial parks that regional disparities are overcome. This is an extremely important topic for Northern Bulgaria," Karadimov said.
