"Being part of the euroarea family has proven to be a source of economic strength and resilience," Eurogroup President Paschal Donohoe wrote on X, former Twitter, after the convergence reports by the European Commission and the European Central Bank for non-euro area countries.
"Today’s convergence reports show some progress by the six non-euro Member States in fulfilling the criteria for joining the #euro. I particularly appreciate the growing level of support for euro area membership among their citizens. This is a sign of the tangible benefits the euro is seen to bring to the lives of people and businesses.
In particular, I welcome the good progress by Bulgaria which is advancing well on its path towards euro area membership and I look forward to it becoming part of the euro area family in the future," Donohoe said.
