site.btaParliament to Hear PM, Heads of State Agency for National Security, Defence Intelligence Service on Wednesday

At its plenary sitting on Wednesday, Bulgaria's Parliament is due to give a hearing to caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev, State Agency for National Security (SANS) Chair Plamen Tonchev, and the Director of the Defence Intelligence Service (DIS), Brigadier General Venelin Venev, according to the legislature's draft agenda published on its website.

Glavchev will be heard on a motion from Atanas Atanassov and a group of fellow MPs of Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB). He will be asked about recent dismissals and appointments at SANS, the State Commission on Information Security, the State Agency Technical Operations, and the State Intelligence Agency.
 
On a motion from the same parliamentary group, the MPs will give a hearing to Tonchev regarding complaints against members of the Public Council for the establishment of a National Children's Hospital and against the Danaya Foundation by the Commercial League - Global Pharma Centre in connection with their suspended development proposal for the establishment of a Mom and Me General Hospital for Active Treatment.

Brigadier General Venev is scheduled to brief the National Assembly regarding media reports that DIS intelligence officers had allegedly been recruited in a cafe in central Sofia by Veselin Markov, national security adviser to former prime minister Nikolay Denkov, who reportedly offered them a career promotion in exchange for personal loyalty to General Atanas Atanassov. The motion for this hearing has been entered by Movement for Rights and Freedoms Deputy Floor Leader Hamid Hamid.
