The Council for Economic Analyses (CEA) under the Council of Ministers received high praise from Lyudmila Petkova, caretaker Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Prof. Atanas Atanasov, Chair of the National Statistical Institute (NSI), and Prof. Georgi Valchev, Rector of Sofia University during the official opening of CEA’s second annual conference on Monday. The Rector's Office of Sofia University is hosting the symposium again this year.
Established in 2023, CEA is now in its second year of successfully advising and assisting the Bulgarian government in developing policies and drawing attention to important socio-economic issues, Petkova pointed out.
"CEA is not just another advisory body, but a community of proven professionals and authoritative academics and researchers in economics, finance, analysis and strategic planning. They unite knowledge and experience in the search for workable solutions for the economic, financial and social development of the country," Atanasov said in his turn.
"The annual conference is a very important event, which for the second time is held at the University of Sofia, as a bearer of an old tradition - all important issues for the future of the country to be discussed in an academic environment," said Prof. Valchev.
CEA Secretary Plamen Nenov reviewed the work done by the Council in recent months and provided information on the analyses planned for publication in the second half of 2024. By the end of the year, the Council plans to publish four new analyses.
Virgiliu Midrigan of New York University, an expert on macroeconomics and inflationary processes in a market-oriented economy will deliver the keynote lecture at this year's conference on June 25 at 1:00 pm.
