site.btaGovernment Approves National Position for EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council

The government approved Bulgaria's position for the EU Agriculture and Fisheries Council which will be held in Luxembourg on June 24, the government press office reported on Wednesday.

At the meeting, the European Commission is expected to present its communication on "Sustainable Fishing in the EU: State of Play and Orientations for 2025".

Bulgaria welcomes the growing sustainability of fishing and the improvement of the state of fish stocks, as reported in the Commission's communication. Nonetheless, the country finds unsatisfactory the absence of an adequate assessment of the continuing adverse impact of the Ukraine war on Black Sea fishing for Bulgaria and Romania, the two Black Sea member states of the EU, the press release said.
