site.btaBulgaria Wins 27 Gold Medals at Kickboxing World Cup in Hungary

Bulgarian athletes won 27 gold, 21 silver, and 40 bronze medals at the Kickboxing World Cup in the Hungarian capital Budapest. The country participated with 136 athletes who played 222 matches and grabbed 88 medals. 

In the heavyweight division, Bulgaria performed excellently, with 11 World Cup winners out of 25 matches. Six won silver after losing their final bouts, and eight kickboxers will return with bronze medals.  

The best and most memorable performance in the ring was made by Ali Yuzeir, who took the World Cup in the 81kg K-1 style category after four victories - all achieved by knockout. 

On the tatami, the Bulgarian nationals took 15 gold, 14 silver, and 30 bronze medals. 

Teodor Popovski became the winner of two World Cups in the 57 kg and 63 kg weight classes in point fighting. 

Monika Petkova will return with two titles in the point fighting and light contact under 50 kg.

The captain of the national team Kristina Nikolova won three silver medals in the 55 kg weight class in three different styles - point fighting, light contact, and kicklight. 

Bulgaria placed 5th in the medal standings, where the champions were the representatives of the hosts from Hungary.  This year's World Cup campaign will end in September in Uzbekistan. 

The 29th edition of the World Cup in Budapest gathered 3,336 competitors from 50 countries.
