Yes, Bulgaria said that outgoing chairman Hristo Ivanov won’t serve as MP in the 50th National, Ivanov will be sworn in as MP in compliance with all procedures in the Constitution and the Election Code will immediately submit an application for early termination of his powers.
After the June 9 election loss of Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria coalition, of which Yes, Bulgaria is part, Ivanov tendered his resignation and said that he would leave Parliament.
The party said that the resignation should be submitted to the National Assembly. The established practice of submitting an application to the Central Election Commission (CEC) for deletion from the candidate lists after the end of the election day goes against the procedure provided for in the Election Code.
On Friday, CEC adopted a decision announcing the elected MPs in the 50th National Assembly. Hristo Ivanov is on the list.
On June 10, he announced that the party's Executive Council had accepted his resignation. Ivanov said that he would not run for leader of Yes, Bulgaria and would give up his seat in Parliament.
