Kuwaiti pianist Lulwa Al Shamlan will play a recital at the Polish Institute in Sofia on June 17, the Institute said.
The programme features works by Pancho Vladigerov, Franz Schubert, Sofia Gubaidulina, and Sergey Rachmaninoff.
The concert is part of the Young Piano Stars series initiated by Prof. Lyudmil Angelov as part of his Piano Extravaganza festival.
Lulwa Al Shamlan is Kuwait-born with Bulgarian roots. She has held concerts in Europe, the US, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and the Middle East.
In 2019, she graduated from a specialized music school in the UK. Since September 2023, she has been a master student at the Manhattan School of Music (New York), where she studies classical piano. She has been presented with the School’s Roy M. Rubinstein Award for demonstrating exceptional promise in piano performance.
Lulwa Al Shamlan has worked with the National Symphony Orchestra of Uzbekistan and the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra in Doha. In Kuwait, she received the Young Talent Award at the Arab Woman Awards.
