Bulgarian Kalin Stefanov leads the overall ranking of Ulm Open tournament series, which is a qualifier for the sports backgammon national championship in Germany. The top two players in the Ulm Open rankings qualify for the championship.

After three tournaments played earlier in June, the 20-year-old Stefanov, nicknamed The Kalinator, leads the ranking with a total of 142 points, followed by Mark Heidenfeld with 121 points and Andre Taduschewski in third place with 100. Three more tournaments are yet to be played in the series.

After 21 games played, Stefanov has a record of 16 wins and 5 losses.

In early-May, Stefanov won the prestigious international tournament in Geneva. Before that, the Bulgarian became junior vice-champion of the world.
