Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov participated in the 15th Conference of the Network of Public Prosecutors or equivalent institutions at the Supreme Judicial Courts of the Member States of the European Union (NADAL-Network), which took place in Luxembourg, the press center of the prosecution magistracy said.

Sarafov was the moderator of one of the panels dedicated to the challenges in the fight against fraud in the EU and cooperation with the member states of the community and third countries. Participants in the panel included the European Chief Prosecutor Laura Kovesi, Claude Eischen, European Delegated Prosecutor from Luxembourg, as well as the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin, and of Switzerland Stefan Blaettler, who took part via video conference.

Sarafov stressed the daily work at the national level is fundamental, as is responsibility, striving for higher results and persistence, which also guarantee the independence of both the judiciary in general and the prosecutors in particular. He highlighted the role of Laura Kovesi as the European Chief Prosecutor, was a person  unites and personifies the building of integrity of all involved in countering crimes against the financial interests of the EU at a supranational level.

The protection of the funds of the European Union in Bulgaria is an extremely important priority in the work of all institutions in the country, Sarafov also said. 
The delegates of the forum got acquainted with the functioning of the Court of the European Union and visited the European Prosecutor's Office, which is seated in Luxembourg. There Sarafov also spoke with the Bulgarian representative in the institution, Teodora Georgieva.

In Luxembourg, the Acting Prosecutor General spoke with his Spanish  counterpart Alvaro Garcia Ortiz, who will visit Bulgaria in the autumn in response to the visit of the Bulgarian Prosecutor General to Madrid last year.
