site.btaPresident Radev Arrives on Working Visit to Switzerland
Bulgaria’s President Rumen Radev arrived on a working visit to the Swiss Confederation on Monday.
He will hold a meeting with Swiss President Viola Amherd in Bern, which will be followed by plenary talks between the delegations. Bilateral cooperation in economy, innovation, education, and security is expected to be the highlight of the meeting.
During his visit, Radev will visit the International Olympic Committee in Lausanne at the invitation of the organization's President, Thomas Bach.
The Bulgarian head of State and Bach will hold a tete-a-tete meeting, followed by plenary talks. The prospects for Bulgaria to host the 2028 Winter Youth Olympics will be discussed.
Diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Switzerland were established in November 1916. The two countries maintain intensive cooperation in science, innovation, and development.
Bulgaria will receive financial support of CHF 92.5 million for the period 2023-2029 under the Framework Agreement between Bulgaria and Switzerland concerning the implementation of the Second Swiss Contribution to selected EU Member States to reduce economic and social disparities. In implementation of the agreement, a Swiss-Bulgarian cooperation programme has been agreed regarding the implementation of projects in dual vocational education and training, research and innovation, security and migration, environment, social policy, and civil society.
