site.btaRomania Sends New Humanitarian Aid Shipment to Gaza
A new shipment of food and military equipment has left Romania for the Gaza Strip, the Romanian Department for Emergency Situations said on Monday. The aid is worth RON 8.2 million (BGN 3,280,000). According to the government press service, the decision was taken by the National Emergency Committee, headed by Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu.
"Romania continues to provide humanitarian aid to the civilian population of the Gaza Strip. A new shipment of foodstuffs and military equipment - tents, sleeping bags, beds, etc., provided by the National Administration of State Reserves and Special Problems - was sent this morning," the government press office said.
Transportation is carried out with national resources to a special hub set up by the European Commission Representation in Cyprus. Subsequently, humanitarian aid is transported between Cyprus and the Gaza Strip with the help of specialized UN agencies through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism.
