German travel company Der Touristik will invest in Bulgaria as a family destination, the Tourism Ministry said on Wednesday. The outgoing Tourism Minister, Zaritsa Dinkova, met with Der Touristik Hotel Contracting Director Joachim Seip at the ITB in Berlin.

"Bulgaria has the opportunity to take its place in the specific niche of family tourism. We are open to discovering new places in Bulgaria suitable for family holidays, such as Obzor (on the Black Sea coast). We are ready to invest heavily in destination Bulgaria," said Seip.

He added that Bulgaria’s biggest positive in the field of tourism is the excellent quality at a reasonable price.

"I believe that you can achieve serious success by showcasing lifestyle hotels and talking about the unique opportunities that tourists can discover in your country. This is the first year after the COVID-19 pandemic that we have seen a recovery in the market and it is obvious that you are doing a lot for the development of Bulgaria in the tourism sector," Seip noted and highlighted the contribution of the introduction of a promotion programme for the Black Sea region.

The outgoing Tourism Minister expressed satisfaction that the Black Sea programme has attracted interest and also stressed that this country is ready to invest in innovative marketing and advertising methods.

Bulgaria is represented by 35 tourism companies and 9 municipal administrations at the exhibition in Berlin, which started on March 5 and will last until March 7.
