The Bulgarian men's U20 snow volleyball team clinched a historic first win in this sport for this country at the CEV U20 Snow Volleyball European Championship in Bakuriani, Georgia, on Friday. The event will last until March 3.

Martin Pashov, Konstantin Kyuchukov, and Gavrail Tsepenishev defeated the Turkiye 2 team 2-0 (15-13, 15-13) in 28 minutes. This was the second match for the Bulgarians after they lost 0-2 to Czechia earlier on Friday.

On March 2, Bulgaria will take on the Georgia 2 team in its last Pool B match. So far, Czechia is leading with two wins (over Bulgaria and Georgia 2), Turkiye 2 and Bulgaria have one win each, while Georgia 2 was defeated twice.

The Bulgarian women's U20 team was defeated by the Italian team, which is the second seed in the tournament.

Snow volleyball is a winter sport played by two teams of three players that originated in Austria as a beach volleyball variant. It gained recognition from the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV) in 2015.

In March 2023, the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation introduced snow volleyball as an official sport in this country. Thus, snow volleyball clubs can become members of the federation.
